(Late) Arrow of Light Crossover Ceremony

Better late than never. Three Arrow of Light scouts had their Arrow of Light & Crossover ceremony at Troop 404’s troop meeting.   Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, their cub scout pack was not able to hold an Arrow of Light & Crossover ceremony for them, but once Troop 404 started back up their meetings outdoors, they were happy to have the ceremony.

National “Camp In” Event

Even though we were still apart and at home we took part in the “Camp In” event. Scouts pitched tents in their backyards, camped in their living rooms, camped on their porches…. where ever they chose We had a virtual campfire to get together as a pack for a while that night too.

Christmas Pack Meeting

The pack held the final pack meeting of the year! This one is special for many reasons. First, the boy scouts from Troop 404 attended the meeting in full force and taught the cub scouts knot tying. Santa stopped by and talked to each of the scouts and their siblings. Then, the top 3 popcorn sellers got to pie the leader of their choice with a whipped cream pie. This year was even better because the pies had much more whipped cream than previous years!

Yeck’s Hay Ride

Every year the Pack holds an evening hay ride event at Yeck’s farm. In addition to the hay ride, the scouts enjoy a potluck full of yummy food, roasting marshmallows, and chasing each other in the corn maze. And to top things off, this year it didn’t rain like the past couple years!

Fishing Derby

“I caught a fish ‘THIS BIG'”

This year we decided to hold our annual fishing derby in September after our first pack meeting rather than the normal June/July time frame. Fortunately, the weather was perfect! Not too hot and not too cold. We also had a great turnout, especially the families and scouts new to the pack.

We hold our derby at a secret location in Cranberry Twp, and the scouts “catch-and-release” their fish. This year we had some record breaking moments! One kid caught over 25 fish, and another caught a nice sized bass! Looking forward to it next year!

Welcome New and Old Scouts!

This evening, we held the Pack 403 Pack Game, Bring a Friend, and Sign Up night at Dutilh Church in Cranberry Twp. It is our first event to kick off the 2019-2020 scouting season! We saw a lot of old faces, but also a lot of new faces too! The Pack welcomes the new families and young scouts exploring scouting for the first time.

We started the evening with indoor table games and snacks, but everyone eventually ended up outdoors to try their skills at gaga-ball. If you have not heard of gaga ball, it is a scout sport staple. Basically everyone plays in an octagon shaped pit with 2′ high walls. You slap a rubber ball with your hands trying to get others out with the ball. The last person remaining wins!
